PROFESSOR CRAIG CALHOUN

Craig Calhoun has been director and president of the London School of Economics and Political Science since 2012. Previously, he was president of the Social Science Research Council, university professor of the social sciences at New York University and director of NYU's Institute for Public Knowledge. He taught earlier at UNC Chapel Hill and Columbia University and on visiting appointments in China, Eritrea, France, Germany, Norway, and Sudan. He is known for studies of critical social theory, nationalism, democratic politics, social movements, technological change, and the future of capitalism; and for advancing the public engagement and communication of social science.
