Lisa Appignanesi

Lisa Appignanesi is a writer, novelist and cultural commentator. Her latest book is Trials of Passion: In the Name of Love and Madness (published in February 2014), which delves into the history of psychiatry, investigating the rise of the expert psychiatric witness through remarkable trials of passion . Her book, Mad, Bad and Sad: A History of Women and the Mind Doctors from 1800, won the British Medical Association Award for the Public Understanding of Science. She is former President of English PEN and Chair of the Freud Museum in London. She broadcasts and lectures frequently around Europe.
